StylPro Expert Makeup Brush Cleaner and Dryer Review

On route to attend Olympia Beauty last year one of my priorities was to purchase a StylPro Makeup Brush Cleaner and Dryer.
I had read previously read a load of the blog reviews about it and I was certain that I needed it my life.

Anyways with all the excitement of the day I came home minus the StylPro Makeup Brush Cleaner and Dryer.
Oh don’t get me wrong I found my way to the stand, had a lovely little chat with the staff who introduced me to the StylPro Expert Makeup Brush Cleaner and Dryer which was £20 more but had some added features, as I had set myself a strict £150 budget for the day (which I probably didn’t stick to) so this was a bit of a conundrum for me plus I also was laden with bags and in the middle of a bloggers scavenger hunt that was organised by the Beauty Influencer Awards.

At the time the best solution was to finish the scavenger hunt and then back and make my purchase once I was ready to go home.
Except that never happened bah!

What is the StylPro Makeup Brush Cleaner and Dryer

StylPro Makeup Brush Cleaner and Dryer is a makeup brush cleaning and drying device (Hence the name lol ).

This handy little gizmo uses a series of differently sized rubber tubes to spin your brushes rapidly in a solution of brush cleaner and water.
That description does the StylPro Makeup Brush Cleaner and Dryer absolutely no justice but there are plenty of videos on youtube.

In theory, this is the answer to my prayers, not only will my brushes go from being caked in makeup to spotless in seconds, but I won’t have to wait for ages for them to dry?

Fast forward 8 months and I finally got around to making a purchase am now a proud owner of a StylPro Expert Makeup Brush Cleaner and Dryer

Initially I was a bit worried about some of my more expensive brushes becoming misshapen, so I decided to give some of my cheaper brushes a try first. I and I was very pleased with the results.

StylPro’s instructions for use
Follow the above 5 steps once a week for amazingly clean brushes and healthy skin:

1.       Select the best fitting collar. There are 8) if you have theStylPro Makeup Brush Cleaner and Dryer a 10  if you have the StylPro Expert Makeup Brush Cleaner and Dryer.
2.       Attach the collar to the StylPro device.
3.       For water-soluble makeup (for example blusher, bronzer and loose powder), squeeze a small amount your preferred liquid soap into the bowl. Add water to the bowl until the water level is half the height of the brush bristles.
4.       For non-water soluble makeup (for example foundation), add one sachet (10ml) of StylPro Makeup Brush Cleanser into the bowl.
5.       Softly dunk the brush-up and down in the liquid, pressing the brush lightly into the bowl to open the bristles slightly. Whilst gently pressing the brush down in the bowl, switch on the StylPro. Slowly move the brush up and down for 10 seconds, keeping the brush underneath the liquid level at all times.
6.       Gradually lift the spinning brush out of the liquid (but keep inside the bowl) and leave it to spin above the liquid level. As the brush lifts from the dirty liquid, the bristles will splay out and you will see the water/cleanser and dirt being spun out of the brush. Leave the brush spinning above the liquid. After 10 seconds switch off the StylPro. Your brush will be clean and dry.

Sounds simple enough right?

What I liked about the StylPro Expert Makeup Brush Cleaner
I found it super quick and easy to use with and it did clean my brushes reasonably well however give my foundation brushes a quick spritz with beauty so clean conditioning brush cleaner beforehand as they were especially filthy

What I disliked about the StylPro Expert Makeup Brush Cleaner
I really don’t like that it is battery operated – I’m not a fan of buying batteries at all! Initially, I found it bit fiddly to hold and manoeuvre but eventually got the hang of it.
The brushes did feel dry after use but I personally wouldn’t use them straight away it would probably be best to leave them overnight

what is the difference between the StylPro Makeup Brush Cleaner and Dryer and the StylPro Expert Makeup Brush Cleaner and Dryer

According to the StylPro website the StylPro Expert Makeup Brush Cleaner and Dryer comes with the following extras:

·         Tritan™ tip to empty bowl – “Unique, easy to empty 'tipping’ bowl, removes the need to empty the bowl between each brush. Clean your brushes wherever and whenever you need. No sink required.”

·         Multi-brush Collar - Clean and dry up to 8 small brushes at once, saving valuable time.

·         Digital two speed device - Dual speed, dual function device to suit different brush sizes and types. Press once for small or delicate natural hair brushes, twice for bigger brushes. No more guessing when brushes are clean and dry, the digital device automatically times and indicates each step of the process. The device also includes an integrated spindle for greater convenience.

·         10 quick release collars - New collars have grooves, which makes attaching and removing collars from any brush type extremely easy. The collars also come in new sizes, sizes better suited to professional brushes. There are also two UNIVERSAL, star looking collars which fit 95% of brushes tested.

My thoughts:
As I have not used the StylPro Makeup Brush Cleaner and Dryer before I am not sure how much of a difference some of the changes would make. I like that you could choose between two speeds and the timer was defiantly helpful I also like that you can dry up to 8 small brushes at once. I wasn’t overly impressed about the Tritan™ tip to empty bowl as I found that I emptied the bowl into the sink after every use anyway. To be fair I mostly cleaned foundation brushes which were filthy, perhaps if I were using smaller brushes I would use less water and then would benefit more.

Overall I am pleased with my purchase so much so that I would like to gift one of my lucky readers a StylPro Expert Makeup Brush Cleaner and Dryer to try out for themselves.

Walk Your Way To Weight Loss

When was the last time you went for a walk?

Sounds like a silly question doesn’t it?
But really when was the last time you went for a walk?

How about you estimate how many steps you do in a day?

I bet whatever numbers you come up with is not even close to the real number.

According to the NHS A person can burn around 400 calories by walking 10,000 steps briskly (3-5mph) and I figured I couldn’t be too far froom that number boy was I wrong…

the average Briton walks between 3,000 and 4,000 steps a day but I have to admit some days I do way less than that (Hey I’m a driver).
As the weather is finally getting nicer why not try going our side and stretching your legs even if you do not achieve 10,000 steps a day the added movement is only going to help and unlike costly gym memberships walking will only cost you your time.

Plus walking can also be therapeutic giving you the opportunity to download your thoughts and feelings or you could come up with your next great idea.

I know we are all so busy and fitting a walk into you day can seem impossible but believe me there are ways to sneak some extra steps into your daily your routine
Get off the bus early and walk the rest of the way home or to work
Walk to the station instead of taking the car or bus
Take the stairs instead of the lift, or walk up escalators
Invest in a shopping trolley and shop locally if you can
Walk the children to school instead of driving

Tips for getting the most from you walk
Find a walking partner, so you have someone to chat to as you walk or join a walking group
Get an MP3 player and listen to your favorite music or podcasts as you go Or even a book on tape I recently finished the Game of Thrones and have just started A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin which makes me look forward to going on my walks.
Plan interesting walks or alternate your route so you don't get bored Invest in good shoes. Since these are the only expense and equipment you'll need, pay attention to the fit and quality of your shoes.

Always warm up by walking at a slow or normal walking pace for five minutes before picking up the tempo of your workout.
Pay attention to your heart rate and breathing.

Walk at a pace that challenges you and elevates your heart rate, but don't overdo. You should be able to talk and carry on a conversation while you are exercising; if you can't, you may be working too hard.
Use good walking posture. maintaining the following posture when exercise walking: Swing your arms. Keep your head up, back straight, and abdomen flat. Point your toes straight ahead. Take long strides, but don't strain.

Consider getting a pedometer or a smart phone app to track the distance you've walked or the number of steps you've taken. Watching your improvement over time is a terrific source of motivation.

Be sure to carry water if you're walking long distances or are exercising in hot weather and if it is especially hot don't forget to wear a hat with a brim and to apply sunscreen to exposed areas.

How many steps do you estimate you walk a day?

Bloggers Fashion Week event #BLFW

At the beginning of last week I attended the Bloggers Fashion Week event #BLFW

Held in the OXO Tower Wharf, Southbank in London. The location was super trendy and spacious with an amazing view of course.

There was two session 12-3pm and 6-9pmas I was on annual leave I decided to go for the earlier session as I figured it would be less crowed.

There was a number of brands at the event which included:
Magantone

Motel
Pixi by Petra
Mason Ves
Nella Nail Polish
Reimagining Nail Polish
I was also able to meet a number of bloggers/vloggers through the afternoon which is always lovely.
Unfortunately all of the #BLFW goodie bags were taken by the time I got there however after a lovely conversation with the rep from Magantone I was gifted one in pink

Woop woop

As well as some other goodies from the other brands reviews to come.
They had a Crush Cocktail were also giving a free cocktail of our choice if you tweeted your order which I thought was cute, I went for the Bubble-gum pop which had popping candy in it.
Yummy!!

Unfortunately I was only able to watch one of the two fashion shows as I had to dash but I thoroughly enjoyed the event.

Curls and Cocktails Event Review

From the organisers of Curlvolution gave a sexy space for fashionable UK naturals to network and bond over cocktails of course.
Hosted at the Madison roof top bar in St Pauls the weather wasn’t perfect (Hello this is England right)
Being featured at the event was

and ORS

who talked us through the product ranges and gave us wonderful goodies to go home and try.
I would love to see more events like this because I really enjoyed socialising with likeminded women in a grown and sexy atmosphere.
The organisers did say that they are hoping that Curls and Cocktails would be a regular thing so lets keep our fingers crossed
