Microcell Nail Repair….Try Me Kit Review

Isn’t it amazing how a fresh coat of nail polish can change the way you feel about yourself?
Due to a number of work and personal commitments I haven’t been able to go and get my nails done and normally me doing my own nails is a big no!
However when I was sent a MicroCell Try Me Nail Repair Kit Polish Varnish Remover from KLM Beauty to try out and then review my blog I thought why not.

In the MicroCell Try Me Nail Repair Kit you get the following

NAIL REPAIR 4.5ml –designed to strengthen weak and brittle nails in only 2 weeks!

NAIL WONDER 4.5ml – This little baby is a quick-drying top coat, a colour refresher, smoothing filler, and is meant to protect against peeling and chipping, as well as protect then nails

COLOUR & REPAIR RASBERRY KISS 4.5ml –Quick-drying varnish which also strengthens nails. FYI I love the colour!

NAIL REPAIR REMOVER 50ml – An acetone-free polish remover which is suitable for all nail types but is especially effective on weak, fragile nails

apply one layer of NAIL REPAIR on two consecutive days.
On the third treatment, day remove all varnish layers with NAIL REMOVER REPAIR and repeat the treatment as on the first and second day.

For best results the treatment should be carried out for 2 – 3 weeks then the  NAIL REPAIR can be used weekly as a base coat.

Simple enough right?

I managed to get through the process and I was pretty happy with the results. I am especially fond of the bottle of Nail Wonder which among other things acts as a ridge filler and helps protect against chipping and peeling.

The polish lasted just over a week without chipping which is good for me because I’m always soaking in a hot bath, never remember to wear gloves when I’m washing up the dishes and I type like a beast!
I did forget to remove the varnish on the third day of the treatment but since taking the polish off with the nail repair remover I have noticed an improvement in my nails which event though are naturally quite strong can be very dry.

I would definitely use these products again.

Shout outs to KLM Beauty for letting me try these lovely products.

Sensationail Starter Kit Review and Giveaway

As much as I try to be frugal and do my nails at home something always seems to go wrong; normally due to me not being to keep still for at least an hour to let my nails dry properly.
Is not my thought there is always something urgent to do when my nails are wet like making a drink or the phone rings what’s a girl to do?
I have had Gels on a few occasions however the last time I had went to a nail shop I was not familiar with as the lady that usually does my nails was on holiday.
Big mistake

By the time I got home the polish had peeled of and it was still wet underneath not good!

I then when back to the shop and the girl redid them not problem right?

The following day it happened again only now I didn’t have time to go back to get them redone and it was Fashion Week!!

Fashion Faux Pas!!

Oh well that was then.
While attending the Bloggers Hang Out Beauty Bar I got talking to the lovely ladies from Sensationail’s and of course I told them about my LFW gel disaster lol!

We then went on to discuss the Sensational Starter kit which is a gel nail kit that you can do at home instead of having to visit the salon.

I have heard about similar product by chance on but I never really considered getting on as I felt it would be harder than simply using nail polish and I find that hard enough. When voiced my concerns to the rep I was assured that kit included everything I would need to started along with easy to follow instructions and the gel lamp and the drying and most importantly the drying time was considerably shorter than using regular nail varnish .
In the starter kit you get a gel cleanser, a gel primer, a gel base and top coat, a colour gel polish (either Scarlet Red or Raspberry Wine(  My kit came with the Raspberry but I purchased Taupe Tulip from Boots separately)

lint-free wipes, a nail buffer, a bamboo manicure stick and the LED lamp. You also get detailed easy to follow instructions (Which I didn’t read until after I started applying the polish lol!).

Applying the polish is roughly the same as applying regular varnish bit there are a few extra steps….

You buff your nails

Cleanse them with the gel cleanser

Add the primer

Add the base coat (30 seconds in the lamp)

Add a layer of colour (60 seconds in the lamp)

Add another layer of colour (60 seconds in the lamp)

Add the top coat (30 seconds in the lamp)

Finally you cleanse your nails again to remove the sticky residue.

The overall process took just under an hour which I think is pretty damn good for my first attempt
It said on the box that they should last around two weeks so let’s wait and see

Walking On Air Pedicure Review

If your feet are in need of an a bit of TLC after a winter hidden away under tights and socks, head to Nice Nails Baby and check out their Walking On Air Pedicure

Based in uber trendy Clapham Junction Nice Nails Baby is everything that you could hope to expect from a jazzy, fashionable nail bar.
Clean white lines, walls covered in collages of amazing nail art and of course every imaginable hue of nail polish line up ready to be selected. As soon as I heard the 90s R&B vibrating through the speakers I was involved. This is the kind of place that you want to head to before you hit the town in your sexy sandals.

The pedicure Area, consisted of a long chair with lots of funky cushions keep you comfortable  with fashion magazines scattered on it to keep you entertained and lots of whilst your feet are primped and preened however I was having such a good time nattering away with Michelle Duberry who is also Managing Director and founder of Nice Nails Baby I didn’t need them.

What does the Walking On Air Pedicure Involve?

The luxury pedicure is a 45 minutes long treatment, beginning with the feet being bathed in bubbles
then a foot mask is applied to the feet and then wrapped in cling film and left for a few minutes in order for it to penetrate into the skin.
Once the mask was removed my cuticles were tidied nails were trimmed and filed shape followed by skin exfoliation, hard skin removal before a polish of my choice was applied.
I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the Walking On Air Pedicure however even though I loved the powder blue colour I chose after changing my mind a number of time I wish I went for something more edgy or perhaps some nail art. Oh well I guess I’m going to have to go back in a couple of weeks then.

Over all I loved the whole experience it was nice to interact and have a good chat rather than put on my iPod and losing myself in a book or magazine it was even nicer to have staff that cared to interact with me instead of talking to each other in another language.

Leighton Denny Spring into Summer collection gift set review

During a particularly stressful and tiring day at work last week I received a text from a friend that I hadn’t seen in a while offering 2 meet me for a drink.
As I was running up and down between meetings presentations that day my 1st thought was to say no as I knew I would be tired at the end of the day, I then thought Fudge it, either way, I'm going to be tired so I may as well have a few drinks and catch up with a friend.
