1st GlossyBox Review

After two trips to two different delivery offices my and a conversation with a nice lady from customer service my GlossyBox has finally arrived

I’m a big kid when it comes to getting surprises and gifts so I have been looking forward to this for some time.

Due to the delay I’m getting my Glossy box (Which was my fault) I looked at some spoiler blogs so the element of surprise was gone

I loved the packaging but…..

I think the products leaves a bit to be desired this month

While doing my research and looking at previous boxes I was really excited with the products on offer but….

Let me first explain what was in my box:

Paul Mitchell round trip

As I have Afro hair this isn’t something I would use but Glossy Box aren’t to know that. My hair is in braids at the moment so I can’t use it any way but perhaps when I take them out I will give it a try.

Dr Bronner liquid soap

I don’t really have an opinion on this item as I’m not really fussed about it. It has a clinical smell to it (My lil bro said it smells like something he had to wash the dog with)

Como Shambhala body lotion

I didn’t like this product at first but the more I smelt it the more I liked it. Lavender always has a calming effect on me so I am going to try the lotion before I go to bed as I always have a problem switching off and relaxing.

This item was fine I guess, it’s a colour I can wear at least but I’m scared to open it as I have the feeling it will all spill out.

Venom Gloss in Buttercup

I think this one of those lip plumping lip-glosses that give you a tingly feeling when you 1st put it one. I’ve only tired one by accident before when I bought it without realising and nearly cried because I thought I was having an allergic reaction.

The colour is quite nice so I am looking forward to trying it

Also inside the box there was a card that said Expect the unexected …..

There was a link to the GlossyBox website which you could look look at after the 24th Feb (Today)

When I had a look at the website there was a holding page in which I was given a letter (Mine was I)

and the copy said:

“The Mystry Box”

“You have been given a letter!”

“We are giving away new letters each day which together help you form a clue.”

 Ohhhh the intregue

Good one GlossyBox!!!

In all im not over impressed with my GlossyBox but at the same time I am not offended with it
Really want  to find out what is in the The Mystry Box so I’m going to keep my subcription for another month

Got My 1st Jolie Box!!

One route to work happy that its Friday, just had the s~~t scared out of me by a dead frog then what did I notice on my door step tucked away behind a plant pot??

A white box of some kind
Could it be the Jolie Box I have been waiting for?
I go to investigate...............................
My name is on the label….... so it must be

Yippee!
Right Jolie Box your coming to work with me
Off I go with a smile on my face
At my desk tea in hand and camera phone at the ready for the moment of truth
The unveiling of my 1st Jolie box
Dun dun dun
Firstly I have to say even though I have what the Jolie Box packaging looks like from blogs it is much nicer in person very chic and the little bag inside give it a high end feel and can be used again for traveling etc.

The cards in side are printed on nice paper with a very nice font (Very Parisian)
So now for the burning question….
What in the box???
As I only received the box this morning, this review is on my initial thoughts and  I will  review the contents once I have had a chance to test them

1. Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain in 'Forever Pink'
I tried this lipstick stain thingy is meant to adjusts its colour to your mood and temperature, but nothing happened when I tried it out on my hand so I have promised it to a work colleague

2. Lavera Sensitive Hand Cream
this  hand cream has  Shea butter and almond extracts. It smells quite nice and the packaging looks good

3. Macadamia Deep Repair Masque
I am currently trying to find new ways to deep condition my hair, so I was quite pleased with this Ultra conditioning hair masque which is meant to rebuild damaged hair for improved shine and elasticity. When I showed this to my colleague she said it was meant to be really good so I am excited to try it when I take my braids out.

4. RMK Cleansing Oil
I’m the worst for cleansing my face  and find it hard to stick to my Dermologica routine but I’m always happy to try a cleansing facial oil. It is quite a small sample but I’m not going to complain

5.Taaj Himalaya Micellar Water
Same as above  this is an antioxidant and tonic make up remover that will revitalise and purify skin interesting

As an added bonus, my box had a Jolie box concealer brush in it which ,is a lovely quality flat brush with a short handle which is handy because I was thinking about getting some replacement make up brushes so it’s one less that I have to buy
J

On first impressions I was very happy with this box the products are of a good quality and I can’t wait to try them (I tried the hand cream already and it smells lovely) I also like the looks of envy that I got from my colleagues as I opened it and explored the  products (May have to get it delivered to my work address from now on)

No all the products were for me but my the colleague I gave the  Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain  is really happy with it

And the whole point of a Beauty box is to try products you wouldn’t normally try so they all aren’t going to be your cup of tea, four out of five isn’t bad though

Jolie box costs £10.00 a month plus £2.95 p&p which for what I received I think is a fair price. They have just launched their new website http://joliebox.co.uk which

looks great!  Check it out

London Fashion Week Day three

Woke up feeling much better!

Funny how a decent night’s sleep can cure most problems.

Feeling adventurous so I decided to go a little out there with today's outfit.

Since my 1st show isn't until 3pm I will finally get the chance to look around the London Fashion week exhibitions and see what new designers are featured.

While waiting for a friend in the courtyard at Somerset I was approached by some photographers and bloggers who asked to take my picture so I got my Vogue on despite being petrified
Unfortunately the show ran late causing me to miss the fashions finest showcase so I decided to have a spot of lunch

And do some window shopping

I then went down to Grace in Piccadilly where my friend Mary Martin was having a photo shoot for some of her newest creations

Here are some pictures taken of me by bloggers and photographers

Corrie Nielsen London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 12 Catwalk Show

This is one of the shows that I was very excited about
Corrie Nielsen was cchosen as the winner of Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden in 2010 by none other than John Galliano and has been making waves ever since.
The show was packed with many people being denied entry.
Entitled Vestiarium Scoticum the collection was inspired by inspired by Scottish clans

Perhaps the next Trend on the horizon is Scottish Heritage)
On a whole I found the collection to be very funky and quirky but it reminded me a lot of a previous Viviane Westwood collection.

Regardless the shapes were bold and the tailoring excellent along with the tailoring and I loved the Tartan fascinators worn by the models and the Massive netted skirts.

Monstermash Fam Irvoll London Fashion Week AW 12/13 Catwalk Show

The invitation alone had me excited to attend this show and I’m happy to say the Monstermash Fam Irvoll London Fashion Week AW 12/13 Catwalk Show did not disappoint.
Opening with the Ghostbusters theme tube the audience were grooving before the models bounced on to the runway comfy looking assembles such as printed leggings, over sizes jumpers,

jumper dresses

puffy skirts

printed and applique monster motifs there were also some trousers  that looked strangely like pyjama bottoms.

My only disappointment was after hearing the Ghostbusters teamed I was hoping to see some of the characters from the show or other monster cartoon characters from my youth but oh well…
Towards the show some adorable child models strutted their stuff on the catwalk evoking many “Ahhhh’s” from the audience

Also I’m in love with the pastel make up that the models were wearing

Models walking up and down in dresses Antoni and Alison London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter Catwalk Show

'Models walking up and down in dresses' Antoni and Alison Catwalk show review

My first show of the day in fact 'Models walking up and down in dresses' Antoni and Alison Catwalk show opened London fashion week.
Not being too familiar with the brand I wasn’t too sure what to expect but after the resent bouts of cold dreary weather we have experienced in the UK I was more than ready to see some colour.
I did love the tongue in cheek show title
'Models walking up and down in dresses'
(I guess I’m going to be presented with a collection of dresses then)
I arrived at the BFC tents just in time for the show out of breath and tired from running but my day was instantly perked up when I realized that I would be sitting front row
Woop woop
When myself and everybody else was comfort seated the lights went down and we heard a brief explanation about what we were about to see and the inspiration for the collection.
Then the show began

I was quite impressed with the collection of simple printed shift dresses in lengths varying from knee to maxi in beautiful colours.

Actually printed on the dresses were features such as zips, buttons and bow ties

and  very interesting textures such as sequins, glitter, dog tooth fabric,
pleats a creases that you would see if the dress was actually belted or had darts sewn in to it,

felt tip motifs and many more. There was even tuxedo style dresses with incorporated jackets.

London Fashion Week day two

Day two of London Fashion week and I managed to miss my train again!!
Determined to make to the DAKS Catwalk show (Which I overslept and missed last season) I hustled and made it just in the nick of time to get into the show but had to stand with the photographers (Beggars can’t be choosers).
I have a few hours intill my next show so the plan is to get all of Catwalk reports done that I was unable to finish yesterday and perhaps look around the fashion Galleries

Daks London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2012 Catwalk review

Daks London Fashion Week Show

After seeing the pictures online I was very interested to see what DAKS had to offer for Autumn/winter 13 as I had heard that English heritage is soon to be on its way out (Perhaps not for the English lol)

I was pleased with the collection but not blown away, however it was probably best not to expect anything outrageous or daring from this brand.
Sticking with what I guess is their signature colours DAKs presented a lovely collection of evening and casual dresses and separates and coats obviously aimed at the older consumer
